Regarding the power of nobility in Gandia and its duchy, el Palau Ducal, or also known as Palau dels Borja, has become a cultural and tourist model for the region. It is one of the most characteristic civil architecture buildings in the entire province of Valencia. With a rather discreet outer appearance, it hides in its interior elements such as the Arms courtyard, the Crowns Assembly or the Golden Gallery.

The building, extended and restored over the course of seven centuries, is nowadays a varied display of architectural styles with remarkable vestiges of the primitive Gothic palace of the 14th and 15th centuries, Renaissance contributions from the 16th century, extensions and own baroque transformations from the 17th and 18th centuries and finally Neogothic reconstructions of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The historical-artistic heritage linked to the Borja family. Regarding its stays, we should point out the Crowns Assembly, built in the 16th century by Sant Francesc de Borja, the Saint’s Office, with neo-Gothic additions from the 19th century, and the impressive Golden Gallery, built in the early 18th century to commemorate the canonization of the fourth Duke of Gandia.

Today you can visit it in a guided way, and also has a part intended for exhibitions, col•legi, archive and the rooms of the Society of Jesus. There are activities such as cinema screenings in summer, concerts, medieval dinners and other tourist attractions throughout the year, although for the festivity of the Patron of the town, Gandia is dressed for a party and shows all its potential to commemorate the birth of Francesc de Borja.
